Load was worked up in a Savage Trophy Hunter XP in .308 CCI BR2 primers SIG brass Varget powder Hornady 178gr ELD-X My first trip to the range was disappointing to say the least. These are not the groups that this gun is touted to be capable of. I left frustrated and annoyed that I wasted about $30 worth of components, and learned NOTHING. After some thinking and googling, I discovered something that could absolutely be the cause of the horrible grouping - the rail mount allen screws were loose enough to cause the horrible grouping. So, I cleaned/prepped the brass again, in the same fashion I did before, and loaded up another 50 rounds withe same powder, primer, brass and bullet. I put some loctite on the screws, and torqued the rails down tight, and let them set 24hrs - now, back to the range. My second trip to the range, wasn't much better. I only found one group that was anywhere close to what I think this rifle should shoot, and that was with 42.00gr of Varget. Another issue, and entirely my fault, is that I forgot to put the SDcard into the Labradar before I left for the range. Now, the data is on the internal memory of the chronograph, with no way to extract it out to anything other than the screen. bummer.. What I did find pretty entertaining, and made me feel like all was not lost... At least my reloading seems to be consistent.
